Getting a Job Offer from the First Interview
We are all getting worried about the job interview. We want to make our best impression, to show that we know what we are doing and to look as confident as possible. But on the day, the nerves may get the best of us.
Prepare before the interview
You should never go to the interview just believing that you will manage somehow. H
Here is some advice on how to prepare yourself for the interview:
Research beforehand
Make sure that you know about the company and the job position. When asked about your skills and knowledge, name the ones that are mentioned in the job description or the ones that would fit the tasks and duties.
Know company values
Nowadays, it is less important to have skills, it is more important to share the beliefs and values of the company. If they see that you fit within their team perfectly, they will be ready to teach you something you do not yet know.
Be sincere
Do not try to be someone else. Either with your skills or your values. Yes, “fake it till you make it” is valuable advice, but sometimes it is better to say “I don´t know it yet, but I am ready to learn”. This shows that you are ready to seek help and will not hide any mistakes in the future
Do not let go after
Once the interview is done, there are still some things you can do. Don’t be afraid to reach out. This will help you to make the best impression
Show your passion
Everyone is looking for a person who would, at least, enjoy what they are doing. If you are here just for the paycheck, this is not the best look. Yes, we all need money to survive,e and we are not trying to say that you need to accept unpaid internships. But the monetary value should not be your main goal.
Seek feedback
Even if it is a negative one. This will help you to become better in the future, learn from your mistakes, and be the better version of yourself next time.
Don’t take it personally
Sometimes, it does not work out. The fact that you are not the perfect fit for a particular company does not say anything about you as a person or professional. The idea of HR selection is not to find the best one on the market but to find someone who would be a great addition to the existing team. So, it may be just not your team, and something better is waiting for you along the road.
